The Import Setup screen is used to setup import parameters and maintain import setup for an import type. Also, this screen is used to add, remove, and modify import fields of an import type.

To access the Import Setup screen:

  1. Log in to ProTrack Warehouse.
  2. Select the Data Import tab under Configuration menu. The Import Setup screen appears.

      Field

      Description

      Import Type

      Select the type of data that will be imported from the drop down list.

      Description

      Type a description detailing what kind of data will be imported.

      File Type

      Select the format of the file being imported from the drop down list, either Comma Separated Values or Fixed Length.

      Location

      Select a folder that will be searched for files waiting to be imported.

      Current Import Location

      Displays the current saved import location.

      This is typically used for initial configuration of activities.

      Aisle Path

      Used for configuring warehouse mapping.

      Customer

      This data can be used for reporting or triggering specific standards.

      Department

      This is typically used for initial configuration.

      Speed Break

      This is typically used for initial configuration of equipment speed breaks.

      Employee

      This is typically used for initial configuration of employees.

      Equipment

      This is typically used for initial configuration of equipments.

      Facility

      This is typically used for initial configuration of facilities.

      Floor

      This is typically used for initial configuration of floors within a facility.

      Location

      Used for configuring warehouse mapping.

      Microzone

      This is typically used for initial configuration of microzones.

      Quality

      Used for importing quality data such as occurrence of mistakes and the date/time of occurrence which can be used for discipline and reporting purposes.

      Segment

      Used for configuring warehouse mapping.

      Time & Attendance

      Used for importing time and attendance swipes which represents a more accurate start of day, lunch, and end of day activities.

      Travel Path

      Used for configuring warehouse mapping.

      WMS

      Used for importing WMS files that contain data about the assignments worked by employees.

      Zone

      This is typically used for initial configuration of zones.

    Import Location

    This is the folder location where files will be dropped so that ProTrack Warehouse can import the files. Each import type has a configurable import location which must be set locally on the application server.

    To set the Import Location:

    1. Select an Import Type from the drop down list.
    2. Click and a popup window appears.

    3. Navigate to the folder that will be used for importing files.
    4. Select a file located within that folder.

      Tip

      • If there are no files located in the folder, you can right click within the popup and create a new document. Once it is created, select the file.

    5. Click to select the location. The 'Location' field will be populated with the folder location you have selected.

    6. Click to save the import location for that Import Type. The 'Current Import Location' will replace the default location with the one you have selected.

    Import Fields

    Import fields will determine what data to send within a file along with the order of how the data will be sent. Each import type is configurable and the fields will vary from one import type to another. You may choose to import comma separated values or fixed length file types.

    To set the Import Fields:

    1. Select an Import Type from the drop down list.
    2. Select a File Type from the drop down list.
    3. Comma Separated Values file type will have three fields under the 'Import Fields' section: PTW Field, Element#, and Description.

    4. Fixed Length file type will have four fields under the 'Import Fields' section: PTW Field, Element#, Field Size, and Description.

    5. Select 'Add Detail' and a popup window will appear.

    6. Comma Separated Values file type requires two entries: Element# and PTW Field.

    7. Fixed Length file type requires three entries: Element#, PTW Field, and Field Size.

    • The 'Element#' field will be automatically populated.
    • Every time a new field is added, the 'Element#' will increment by 5.
    • This 'Element#' defines the order of the data within a file.

  3. Select an import field from the drop down list.
  4. For fixed length file types, enter a value in the field size which represents how many characters that field will have within the file.

    Tip

    • Set the 'Element#' where that import field will begin in the file. For example, if the first import field is Facility ID with a a field size of 3 then the 'Element#' will begin at 1. If the second import field is Assignment ID with a field size of 15, then the 'Element#' will begin at 4. If the third import field is Activity ID with a field size of 6, then the 'Element#' will be at 19. If the fourth import field is Employee ID with a field size of 5, then the 'Element#' will begin at 25.

  5. Click to save the import field. The screen will refresh displaying the saved import field in the 'Import Fields' section and another popup will appear with an 'Element#' of 10.
  6. Repeat the previous steps until all fields are assigned an 'Element#'.

    • Fields that have a leading asterisk from the drop down list represents a mandatory field.

  7. Once all fields have been selected, click on the popup window to close it.

  8. Click to save the selected import fields and their order.


Deleting Import Fields

To delete Import Fields:

  1. Click on the check box(s) to the left of the import field you would like to delete.

  2. Click to remove the selected import fields.
