The kiosk can be used to capture time stamps of different activities within a facility that cannot be tracked from a WMS perspective (i.e. RF scanning).

The kiosk has the ability to track:

  • Standard Direct activities
  • Indirect activities
  • Delays

Info

Delays can be configured to require supervisor approval and will not be applied to the employee's day until they have been approved.

By tracking all the activities that occur within the facility, you will have a better idea as to where all the hours are going and from there figure out if those hours are truly necessary.

Accessing the Kiosk

  1. Log into ProTrack Warehouse using a kiosk account.
  2. Select Warehouse Kiosk from the Kiosk drop down menu.

Starting an Assignment

There are three different types of standard direct assignments that can be worked using the kiosk.

  • Pre-downloaded (as known as PRE) – un-worked WMS assignments that contain case, pallet, or quantity counts which were imported via flat file
  • OPS – assignments created in advance via the KVI Entry screen
  • Manual – assignments created directly from the kiosk

To begin a PRE assignment:

  1. Enter or scan the employee ID.
    1. If authentication is enabled, a popup window will appear asking for the user's ProTrack password.
  2. Enter or scan the barcode of the assignment into the Activity/Assignment field.
  3. Navigate the cursor out of the Activity/Assignment field by clicking [Tab] to begin the assignment.
    1. If barcode of the assignment was scanned, the cursor should automatically navigate out of the field.

To begin an OPS assignment:Kiosk OPS assignment

  1. Enter or scan the employee ID.
    1. If authentication is enabled, a popup window will appear asking for the user's ProTrack password.
  2. Enter the exact assignment ID that was created from the KVI Entry screen.
  3. Navigate the cursor out of the Activity/Assignment field by clicking [Tab] to begin the assignment.

    1. If authentication is enabled, a popup window will appear asking for the user's ProTrack password.
  2. Click the Standard Activity button and select the desired activity from the drop down list.
    1. If Enter Pre KVI is enabled, then a popup window will appear where the user enters the counts (i.e. cases, pallets) for each field respectively.
    2. Click Save on the popup window and the assignment will begin.

  • If an assignment is currently In-Progress, starting a new assignment from the kiosk will simultaneously end the assignment In-Progress. The end time for the first assignment will be recorded as the start time of the new assignment.
  • Refresh timer displays the amount of time before the user is automatically logged off from the kiosk. The duration of the timer can be configured from the System Configuration screen.
    • There are two timers that are configurable:
      • KIO_REFRESH_SEC – timer displayed when the user first logs into the kiosk
      • KIO_REFRESH2_SEC – timer displayed after the user starts an assignment from the kiosk
  • Productivity & Utilization gauges can be enabled/disabled from the Employee screen.

Holding & Resuming an Assignment

The user has the ability to put an assignment on hold through the kiosk if they need to work on another assignment or indirect activity. Then once that assignment or indirect activity has been completed, they can pick up the previous assignment, which is on hold, and complete it.

To put an assignment on-hold:

  1. Enter or scan the employee ID.
  2. Click the Hold button to the left of the assignment that will be put on-hold.

  3. The status of the assignment will change from In-Progress to On-Hold

    • Assignments can be held today and resumed tomorrow.
    • Assignments left in hold status will remain on-hold status forever until the employee ends the assignment.

To resume an assignment:

  1. Click the Resume button to the left of the assignment.
  2. The status of the assignment will change from On-Hold to In-Progress.

Ending an Assignment

There are two ways an assignment can be ended from the kiosk: ending it directly or starting a new assignment. The majority of the time, the user will end the previous assignment by starting another assignment. Typically, the only time the user will directly end an assignment would be at the end of their work schedule because there will be no more assignments to work.

To directly end an assignment:

  1. Click either the End All or End button.

    • Clicking the End All button will end all assignments that are in-progress or on-hold.
    • Clicking the End button on the right side of the assignment will end that individual assignment.
    • If the employee accidentally signed into the wrong assignment, they can click the Undo button to reset the assignment back to available status for another employee to work.
  2. If Enter Post KVI is enabled for the selected activity, the user has the option of entering in the counts (cases, pallets, etc) after the assignment has been ended.

Grouping Assignments

The user has the ability to group multiple assignments of the same activity together. By doing so, it will reduce travel to and from the kiosk and let them focus on the task at hand. To use this feature, it needs to be enabled on the Employee screen before the employee logs into the kiosk.

Group assignments are slightly different than a standalone assignment.

  • ProTrack will automatically generate a new assignment ID which will begin with the letters "GRP" followed by numbers to make the group assignment unique. This is the assignment ID the user will see on the kiosk once the group assignment has been started.
  • ProTrack will sort the selected assignments in alphabetical order based on the locations provided in each task line. Travel will then be calculated based on this sorting order.

To group assignments together:

  1. Enter or scan the employee ID.
  2. Click the Group button and a popup window appears.

  3. Enter or scan an assignment and click the Add button.
  4. Repeat step 3 until all assignments have been added.

    • To remove an assignment from the group, click the trash bin icon to the right of the assignment.

  5. Click the Start button and the group assignment will begin.

Multiple Employees Working the Same Assignment

ProTrack has the capability to have two or more employees working the same assignment concurrently. If an assignment is in-progress by one employee and another employee signs into the same assignment, then ProTrack will split the assignment into separate entities (known as child assignments). The start and end times are recorded for each employee independently towards their respective parts of the assignment.

To split an assignment:

  1. Enter or scan the employee ID of the first user.
  2. Enter assignment ID.
  3. The first user logs out of the kiosk.
  4. Enter of scan the employee ID of the second user.
  5. Enter the same assignment ID as the first user.
  6. The second user logs out of the kiosk.

  7. Repeat these steps for all employees working the same assignment.

    • When an assignment is split, ProTrack will automatically append "-2" to the end of the assignment ID of the second employee.
    • As more employees sign into the same assignment, causing more children, ProTrack will keep applying a "- #" to the end of the assignment ID to signify the split.

Indirect Assignments

It is recommended that all indirect activities within the facility be tracked to fully understand where hours are going in the facility. The kiosk is an easy way to capture individuals that are on indirect tasks from day to day (i.e. clerks, maintenance, janitors, etc) or if an employee on the floor switches to an indirect task.

To start an indirect activity from the kiosk:

  1. Enter or scan the employee ID.
  2. Click the Indirect Activity button and select the desired activity from the drop down list.
  3. An assignment will be generated and started for the user.

    • Indirect assignments created through the kiosk will have auto-generated assignment IDs that begin with the letters "OTH" followed by numbers to make it unique.

Adding a Delay

Employees have the ability to add delays that they encounter in their day through the kiosk in lieu of delay sheets or lack of RF interfacing. They can add the delay to the most recent assignment, the first assignment of the day, or any assignment in between. This feature gives the user the flexibility to apply a delay anytime during their day.

To add a delay:

  1. Enter or scan the employee ID.
  2. Click the Delay button and a popup window appears listing all the assignments the user has completed for that day.

  3. As a default, the most recent assignment is prepped to apply a delay.
  4. If another assignment in the day requires a delay, click the Add icon to the left of the assignment.

  5. Select the delay from the drop down list and enter the duration, in minutes, of the delay.
  6. Click the Save button to apply the delay to the selected assignment.

    • Duration of the delay must not be larger than the assignment duration.
    • Delays that require supervisor approval may still be selected but will not be applied to the employee's productivity until it has been approved from the DI.

Logging Out

When the timer reaches 0 seconds, the user will be automatically logged off the kiosk. If the user does not want to wait for the timer, then they can click the Reset button to log out of the kiosk.

  • If an assignment is left In-Progress (INP) status, at the end of the employee's work schedule it will be automatically ended. It will then go into Error status and will require a supervisor to correct.
  • If an assignment is left On-Hold status, it will remain on hold until the employee ends it through the kiosk.
  • No labels
